Saroa is a Japanese three-arm surgical robotic system by Riverfield Inc, distinguished by its pneumatically driven architecture for physical force feedback, designed to restore one of the senses largely lost in conventional robotic surgery: the perception of tissue resistance.
Saroa received Japanese manufacturing and marketing approval in May 2023, after two decades of development at Tokyo Institute of Technology (now Science Tokyo).
In 2024 RIVERFIELD reported the world’s first demonstration of a mobile remote-surgery system using low-Earth-orbit satellite communication.
