500 consecutive Single-Port Robotic Areolar (SPRA) thyroid&neck procedures.

The experience with the da Vinci SP in thyroid&neck surgery continues to grow, and this new publication by Jin Wook Yi and colleagues represents another important milestone.

The authors report 500 consecutive cases performed using the Single-Port Robotic Areolar Approach (SPRA), including not only thyroidectomy but also modified radical neck dissection (MRND), reoperative surgery, and parathyroidectomy. The series demonstrates excellent perioperative outcomes, very low rates of recurrent laryngeal nerve injury, and highlights the expanding versatility of single-port robotic surgery in the neck.
SPRA is particularly interesting because it combines the advantages of a single-port platform with a cranio-caudal surgical view, while reducing the extent of flap dissection compared with the conventional BABA approach. The evolution of remote-access thyroid surgery is clearly moving toward less invasive and more versatile techniques.
