On December 17, 2025, I had the privilege of unpacking the first da Vinci surgical robot to arrive in Spain, at Hospital Universitario Rey Juan Carlos.
Today, I found myself opening the fifth da Vinci 5 system to arrive in Spain, now at HLA Hospital HLA Universitario Moncloa. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of both milestones.
Of course… if I’m completely honest, I would still have preferred to see a da Vinci Single Port system arrive instead. 😉 Maybe next time.
Until then, I’m looking forward to putting the new da Vinci 5 to work, expanding robotic surgery at HLA Moncloa, and continuing to push the boundaries of what we can offer our patients.
