PuraShield

Several strategies can help manage the risk of bleeding following transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for oropharyngeal cancer.

PuraShield (3-D Matrix Medical Technology), a synthetic haemostatic agent, is one such option. It is a transparent gel provided in a 3 mL prefilled syringe. It contains peptides that self-assemble into a complex fiber network; this structure closely mimics the natural collagen mesh.

Its impact on postoperative outcomes requires further evaluation.
