The final arrangements for the 2024 biannual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery (APTS) are set. The event will be held in Bangkok from October 3rd to 5th. The APTS is an international multidisciplinary society dedicated to thyroid surgery, bringing together the most innovative surgeons in the field.
I will be participating in a symposium chaired by Angkoon Anuwong, between two well-known Korean colleagues, Yoon Woo Koh and Kyung Ho Kang, whom I wish I could meet more frequently. I was fortunate to meet Se-Heon Kim and Yoon Woo Koh for the first time at Yonsei University some years ago, where I learned about the advancements and impressive case load of robotic surgery at the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Severance Hospital in Seoul. Additionally, I witnessed an impressive surgical demonstration by Kyung Ho Kang at Chung Ang University Hospital, which completely transformed my perspective on current thyroid surgery.
No doubt, this is the worldwide meeting where cutting-edge advancements in thyroid surgery are discussed every two years. Everyone involved in the latest developments will be there. I will be discussing the potential of the new Versius Robotic Surgical System by Cambridge Medical Robotics (CMR Surgical).
Do not miss a characteristic feature of the Society. Take a look at the list of speakers…. Half are trained as otolaryngologists and half as general surgeons, both converging in Head&Neck Surgery. Two different surgical points of view that enrich each other.
