What is Facial Plastic Surgery?
Facial plastic surgery encompasses a range of surgical procedures designed to enhance the appearance or functionality of the face, head, and neck. It includes cosmetic surgeries to address aesthetic concerns such as ageing, scarring, or the desire of an individual to modify the appearance of parts of the face and neck, and reconstructive surgeries for congenital issues, trauma recovery, or disease-related conditions like skin cancer.
Who is a Facial Plastic Surgeon?
A Facial Plastic Surgeon is a highly trained medical specialist focusing on cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face and neck. Facial Plastic Surgery is performed by surgeons from several surgical specialties. The complexity of the face and the visibility of the procedures deserve input from different specialties, each contributing cutting edge surgical skill, techniques and expertise.

Turbinoplasty
Patients undergoing cosmetic rhinoplasty may require a turbinoplasty if they have enlarged nasal turbinates, which can obstruct airflow and cause breathing difficulties. Turbinoplasty by radiofrequency is a minimally invasive procedure that uses controlled energy to shrink and reshape the turbinates, improving nasal airflow. Combining these procedures addresses both aesthetic concerns and functional nasal issues, ensuring the patient achieves both improved appearance and optimal breathing.
Septoplasty
Some patients undergoing cosmetic rhinoplasty may also need a septoplasty if they have a deviated septum, a condition where the nasal septum is displaced, causing breathing difficulties or nasal obstruction. A septoplasty straightens and reshapes the septum to restore proper airflow. Combining this functional correction with cosmetic rhinoplasty ensures both an improved nasal appearance and optimal nasal function.
